Dan I am growing some this year for the first time I hope some of mine look as good as yours.
Some potatoes? I've been growing them for about 3 years now and haven't had any this big before, I think I know why too, I did potato towers this year just to see what happened and what I've noticed is that yes, most of the potatoes did grow roots along the stem however I have not noticed any potatoes along those stems but I think what happens is the extra roots along the stem help take in much more water than they would otherwise be able to if they were just planted in the ground, thus increasing both the size and amount of potatoes.
Yeah! I've only seen petunias that look like that at stores, never just pop up in the middle of the yard. That's really unique-looking and pretty!
Thanks. Oh, that stinks.Very cool! I'm jealous! With all of our reason and it's timing and having company in town, my garden is behind and a mucky, weedy mess.
But I like tomatoes that look like thatToo bad they couldn't breed the cat facing out of some of those heirloom tomatoes. Excellent flavor, form... not so much! Now, there's a home garden breeding project for you Dan!
Thanks Dan. Maybe I need to put mine in the kiddie pool so they get enough water.![]()
Dan all your plants look great.
Jerryse your cherries look wonderful. It is a challenge keeping some fruit on the trees!
I have one Nankin cherry that I have in a 5 gallon bucket. I think it needs a larger container. But I hope it will fruit next year. Any tips on fertilizer for it?
Good plan, Dan. If you can get it to bred true to form, bush.. and the fruit is flavorful and fine textured, you've got a winner. My suggestion: try cooking some of those fruit when they are young, not just waiting till they are full sized. Who knows, it may be a new taste sensation that will rival zucchini when eaten young.Yeah! I've only seen petunias that look like that at stores, never just pop up in the middle of the yard.

This is a volunteer squash that came up in my garden from where we grazed the pigs there over winter. (How lucky is that?) It appears to be a mostly bush type though it has quite a few side shoots but they are rather short, it also appears to be a spaghetti squash judging by the shape of the fruit and comparing it to the other spaghetti squash volunteer another thing I like is that it has like 20 female flowers on it. So, I'm going to see if I can't get it to breed true.

Dan you will have fun with those . You need to learn how to hand pollinate if you do not already know how . Better control of the parentage . Done a lot of crosses over the years . That sounds like a semi bush . So one bush parent and one long vine parent . F2 generation will segregate into many types . Well sort of like Mendel's law or Punnet square .Good plan, Dan. I hope so. I know how to hand pollinate, I've been pollinating all the female flowers for now cause I wanted to make sure they took. (Ok I missed 2 or 3 this morning cause I slept till 12.Dan you will have fun with those . You need to learn how to hand pollinate if you do not already know how . Better control of the parentage . I once got some really strange squash from open pollinated seed . I grew some that were about 2 1/2 to 3 inch diameter by 3 foot long . Turns out the Filipino lady down the road grew something like that . So the pollinators did the rest .
