Wife & I spend 3 days at the Heirloom Seed Festival In Santa Rosa Ca. this past week.  Sat in on several good lectures on GMOs, raising rabbits & chickens.  Several seed companies I purchase from were there;  Bakers Creek (of course), High mowing seeds, Southern Exposure, Seed Savers plus a few others.  We swung by Bakers Creek Seed Bank on the way home.  Pretty impressive!  All in all it was a pretty good time.
That sounds like fun!

We picked so many tomatoes today. It's like the last heat wave brought on a lot. There are still zillions out there.

Spaghetti for dinner tonight? My wife picked quite a few yesterday also, along with some peppers, okra, cucumbers & strawberries. Almost hate to see the season winding down but I'm tired of the heat & the fall garden will be producing soon

Oooo. Oh! can I join in?!

I love gardening and it's become even more fun and rewarding with our chickens helping out! Learning a bunch about protecting certain plants (tomatoes on the deck--

) and what plants they love to walk among and can do no damage to...LOL. I know the season is about over here for us but if I follow and get some tips and tricks for next year that would be great!

We have powdery clay like soil in these parts, so raising sweet corn has sorta been a bust. But this year with the addition of chicken manure last winter and some barn lime the stalks were 6-7 foot and I got 2 dozen large ears! I'm tickled...

Early Failure here this spring. hahaha. Notes for next year: Get bird netting around tomato cage same time you plant tomato!

one evening's harvest from the garden 2 weeks ago. Num...

I think I took these earlier in July. I loved my Herb pots this year. So pretty and so fun to use in cooking. The chickens would come help themselves to a bit now and again too. Things are fading now for us...but I'll get some updated photos from how things are looking today.

Okay! Well I got out and got some pictures today. I've pulled some of the beans, peas, sunflowers, already out of the garden and laid down compost.

Lots of Bunnies and Deer around here so I need to maintain this rickety fence...which will need maintenance again next spring.

This is my perennial garden which also needs thinning. Iris bulbs are too many, etc... Nesting Box for one there for my free rangers. They really like it.

The view of the coop and run today from the same garden.

I made this tonight for the family. Caprese sald from the heirlooms I was able to sneak by the chickens...LOL. Lemon Boy, Amana Orange, some romas, (Larger red sliced from my mom so I'm not sure), and Purple Cherokees. I think I sliced the lemon Boy too early...needed a bit more time on that one. The amana oranges and purple Cherokee were the BEST--super sweet. The amana oranges had the smallest seed spaces I've ever seen. It was all tomato "meat" --Incredible!

Great pics! Some nice views, must be postcard perfect with a fresh blanket of snow. A postcard is about as close I care to get to your winters, I like my snow up on the mountain tops where it belongs.
