Oh how I love that you mentioned the bee's.. They are such a vital part in our ecosystem!!

They certainly are. We had a huge warm spell in february, and the bees were out. It was so beautiful. But then the cold snapped right back and now that we have warmed up I have not seen as many. But my plum tree bloomed so full and bees were around. So I hope that we have a good plum crop. That is the best I have seen that tree since we bought the house. Planting flowers and my garden and hoping next year to have a hive or two myself.

Last Sunday we had a light freeze for a couple (two) hours and a little light non-sticking snow. Last night we had a hecka wind. This morning witnessed fruit drop carnage. Still plenty on the trees, so Mother Nature has done my thinning task for me. The late-blooming apples are on the ground, but the set fruit is doing well. Little mini nectarines litter the lawn. The cherry tree took in the most damage with most of the fruit blackening. I think the tenderness of the fruit skin, the diameter of the stem and the location on the tree played a factor as to whether the fruit got frost damaged or not. I just marvel at the trees' ability to just shed the ones not worth growing.

Yeah, when farming Weather is your wildcard partner....

Weather here is finally warming up. Last week was 60's day and often breezy and nights 40's but felt cold. Today was warmer. Down to the last 2 weeks of possible frost, in theory. Spring has been slow to spring generally speaking. FOrsythia is in full bloom now; buds on trees are just big enough to add some color . . . to the bark. . . . Peach trees buds are swelling. As is the lilac.

FIgured spring would be late as the snows were piled high here and didnt leave until second week of APril. Hoping for a fast warm up. Could rain a little more considering it is spring.

We have the large black bee's that burro in our dead firewood. . The dog's often try and get a hold of one.. im yelling & they are like, " what? They bother me! "

I know what your talking about, we had a border collie that did that.

I need advice from my gardening friends.. . . looking for a good quality watering can. I"m tired of the walmart plastic ones that break after 2 seasons. Suggestions welcome!!

Hmmm
I have plastic ones but they have lasted quite a few years and are still going strong... I think I got them at home hardwear (Canada) I'll see if there is a brand name on them... Otherwise I'd look for a metal one.

Oh and I'm exceptionally hard on things ( careless even ) so they are tough watering cans... Lol

The thick plastic things usually work pretty well. The one I'm using now is a metal one, the brand is Jamie Oliver. It's a bit crap, but it looks good. I mostly water with the hose though.
