Does anyone recognize this plant? It grows all over the place in the woods on my property. Very lovely spring blooms and glossy green leaves. In the fall all those blooms are bright red berries. It's not a vine. Tree or bush like. Almost reminds me of ficus tree

I dunno, looks like it could be a holly variant that we have around here. We grow it as a hedge or shrub in Belgium, the birds love the berries.

Can't get that mushroom link to load on my iPad. I'll get out the laptop in a bit. I've just been doing some routine weeding, fertilizing, reseeding, etc. I'll plan next year's garden differently. I don't like the way this one looks. I'll scale it back some and lay out the planting differently, with better access to the plants. I got too many starts going, beyond my ability to get them planted timely. This season I have to walk on the beds to get to the plants on the far side of the bed; and I think I was too concerned about the microbial life and didn't till as thoroughly as the plants might have liked. It's a let-down, but I am journaling my ideas and hoping to do better. Maybe the book Teaming with Microbes will enlighten me. We'll see.
