Well, my garden is kind of sad. I really want to have a bigger area, but we put the chickens in the garden area. So I have some (4) zucchini plants. The first female flowers are finally coming up! Should boom within the week. Then I have my pumpkin that my brother planted. It has one tiny female flower developing. Then I just planted some sweet potatoes (it's a bit late I know, but another brother started it off and I figured I might as well see what I get from it. I also have some garden beans growing. The soil here sucks as we are in a dry area, and the dirt is clay.

I gave up on doing an in ground garden due to the clay. I must have hauled in about 15 pick up loads of soil and compost. It seems to simply get sucked under the clay every winter.

I am doing raised beds now. I am having better success that way.

Clay is a nightmare to try and grow in.

Yeah root veggies and lots of compost are your best bet for clay-filled soil. We have the same issue here and it's wonderful how much of a difference adding compost each year and rotating crops can make on your soil's texture.

It is. Clay here too, mulch and more mulch, compost, crops rotation, really has changed my soil in just 3 seasons. Never tilled it, don't think I'll ever need to.

Dug some more, started adding rocks.

Got a good rain today! I won't be needing to water it seems. Tomatoes are dong well, got one freaky one but everyone else is normal.

Radishes and carrots are planted, corn is almost ready to put out silk and make ears. Beans are coming in nearly every day.

Anyone else having a good harvest?

Yep! Chard and Kale and Peaches and Eggplant and Cucumbers and Radishes.

Got a late start on squashes and tomatoes, but they're showing great promise.

Peppers about to come in.
