I do experiment, I have two small beds of hard neck garlic that appears to be doing just fine

Well see, there ya go! I prefer the hardneck because it keeps better. People say you can't braid it but I can braid it fine. :p

I have been so busy looking at the chicken forums that I never really scrolled down far enough to notice this forum...awesome...

I have always wanted to start my garden plants indoor so I can start picking fresh veggies earlier. This year I decided to take on the challenge. Two weeks ago I started my trays. Tomatoes (Roma, Beef Steak, Big Boy and cherry), lettuce, spinach, cabbage, onion, broccoli, peas, egg plant, and peppers (sweet, jalapeno, banana and cyanne).

My peas are already growing like well watered weeds. And all but the spinach and one variety of lettuce (head) has sprouted. I love it when they are small. I may have planted a week or two too early but I am hoping that as long as I have lager and larger pots to transplant into that everything keeps growing until time to plant outside. Currently I have a homemade setup with three shop fluorescent light fixtures that I have hanging about 3-5 inches above the trays.

I would love to hear ideas and lessons learned since this is my first tie trying an early indoor start. Especially for the plants that I am starting. Most of them I have planted and grown, but others I have not.

Happy planting

Just itching to get in my garden. I got my tiller out a couple weeks ago and worked a couple wheelbarrow loads of chicken litter into the soil. I've got a few weeks before I can really plant anything here but gosh I'm sure ready!

Pumpkins, corn, and strawberries. My specialty is pumpkins. Here's my pride and joy from last summer. :)
