tldr: 5 older chickens looking for a new home
Hello everyone! Someone at my Boston workplace sent out an email looking to rehome 5 older hens as he would soon be moving to Germany. This is what he had to say about them:
"Unfortunately, I don't have much information about their history. We adopted 10 hens from our neighbour who was moving to Australia last May. The 5 who remain survived 2 incidents with a raccoon. The previous owner said they are between 2 and 7 years old, but wasn't sure specifically how old they were.
As for breeds, there is one large white chicken, two buff chickens, one red chicken and one polish chicken. One of the buff chickens has a lame leg, not sure she's laying any more, but she in her own way she keeps up with the rest. We haven't had any noticeable illnesses, although the polish one has decided that our coop isn't as fun as it used to be. She will, when given the opportunity, sleep in the tree above the coop. My wife has pictures I'd be happy to pass along if there's any interest."
I know it's not a lot of information and they are older hens, but I thought I would pass it along in case anyone in the Boston area would be interested. Just to be clear these birds are pet birds looking for a good home, not birds to be eaten. Thanks for reading!
