FYI, there are some sensitive chicken peeps that are particular about Araucanas, Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. In general, if you buy a hatchery "Americauna" you are buying an Easter Egger. There are true Ameraucanas (note the spelling) and true Araucanas, but you can only buy them from breeders. I wish I could explain all the details, but I am still learning them myself.

I'm aware of that as I have been hearing... time will tell I guess when they start laying. I hear real ones lay light bluish/green eggs?

I did purchase these chicks from a farm that got them from a hatchery.. so I'm hoping they are the real ones...

Some of you live much closer to NY than to Boston.

I would like to invite those who want to make the trip to the Albany NY area to meet with like minded people to check out the link in my signature line. It is only 13 days til our get together...the more the merrier.

We are having a Pot Luck Lunch, a Chinese auction and everyone is invited to bring birds and chicken items to sell or swap. Please post what you are bringing if you are coming. The first post on the thread gives you the location within the thread of posts that list the pertinant information.

Could you posts pic? The real ones lay a blue egg and have one of 8 recognized varieties. "EEs" can lay blue, green, white, and brown eggs. I really like mine!

I think they do get their personalities on and become friendlier as they get older. All of my hens are becoming friendlier as they get closer to laying age. My EEs or Ameracauna chicks were cuddly ad easy to handle when they were peeps but now they are all rowdy and impossible to catch. One of them is just plain crazy. The older hens follow me around and also let me pet them. The rest run away from me less quickly and are quite as histrionic about it. Hah!

I read somewhere that true Ameracaunas have the solid blue/green feet, even on the bottoms, and that the mixed breed or EEs have yellow bottoms on their feet. Not sure if that is true. I got my "Ameracuanas " from the local Agway and their feet are bluish green with yellow bottoms so I guess they are really EEs.
