Aren't hybrids designed for eggs and stuff whilst cross breeds are just any 2 chickens bred together
I learned that the name hybrids is used for/by the chickens for max egg production or max meat production. And the chickens are primarily established for factory farming. It’s a specialised industry and these hybrids with names like , ISA Brown, Gold Star, Lohmann, are not mixed breeds by small farms and BYC keepers.

Good idea, but whats the difference between cross breeds and hybrids?
Technically a hybrid is a cross between two different species. Generally in chickens when we say “hybrid“ we are talking about specially bred hatchery birds, basically designer mutts.

Hey peeps! What Are You Doing to Protect Your Flock From Bird Flu (H5N1) Infection? Take part in this great poll and let us know. :jumpy

Thank you @BDutch for this brilliant poll idea! :highfive:
New poll idea:
What did you do to prevent a bird flu (H5N1) infection ?
  • cover the run with a tarp or something else to stop poop from flying birds comin into the run
  • cover the run with netting of hwc to prevent that wild birds come in the run
  • stop free ranging.
  • keep the chickens in the coop
  • make another (temporary) fenced area or run
  • use a chemical to disinfect my boots/shoes
  • nothing
  • allow no other persons (beside …) near my chickens
  • no new chickens from elsewhere
  • other (please explain).
If you use this idea, please improve the poll.

What where you’re biggest mistakes hatching with broodies ?
  • Never hatched with a broody
  • Letting other chickens lay eggs in the nest
  • Letting the broody sitting on an unsafe nest
  • Giving the broody unfertilised eggs
  • Letting the broody hatch eggs with a different starting point/first day
  • Having the chicken hatch the eggs high above the ground (chicks don’t now how to return)
  • Having 2 or 3 broodies on one nest.
  • Not separating the broody from the flock
  • Not marking the eggs the eggs that should be the ones to hatch
  • Leaving eggs in the nest too long.
  • Giving the chicks, chick feed and the broody layer feed.
  • Giving water to the tiny chicks in an open bowl.
  • Giving the chicks a heat pad/lamp.
  • Not checking on lice or mite
  • Other , please explain.
If you like this idea, please improve the questions. I just wrote them quickly, and they really need improvement!
