Actually - I remembered today I have done a grand total of 2 true quilts. This one is a tiny doll quilt (9 x 12 inches) that I made for my daughter years ago:
It's really badly made - the binding is coming off - but I love the gentle 1930's colors, which I think I found as a fat quarter packet. I cheated on the baskets; they're attached with transfer web! If I had known about balloon applique at the time I would have done it that way instead.
And this quilt is is used as a holiday decoration on my sideboard; one side is Halloween
...and the other side is Thanksgiving:
I think the leaves were supposed to have bias tubing stems, but I never got around to that, I guess I could just hand embroider them on.
One of these days I want to do a quilted jacket with silk batting, I think that would be fun.
oh thanks! It wasn't my idea (I can't rmember what quilting magazine the patterns came from) but I thought it was a fun idea for a quilt used as decor. The quilting is just the "monofiliment squiggly all over" method.
Also, has anyone heard of Reprodepot ? They have really great fabrics that I have not seen anywhere else.
They also have oilcloth iand barkcloth in more patterns than I've seen anywehre else. They get good marks for customer service, although I've never bought anything from them because the last thing I need is a bigger stash!
I've seen that website before! They have some great stuff.... OK guys, can you describe to me what cotton jersey is?? Like regular cotton? Is it the stretchy cotton like a t-shirt? There was one fabric on that site that I LOVED, but it said cotton jersey.

A burn test can tell you the fiber content of just about any fabric.
I have been on a quilting ROLL the last few days ladies! I've been cranking out projects like crazy!! I'm trying to do lots of homemade gifts this year. I'll post a few photos when I can.
Here are some pics of the hand embroidered kitchen towels that I am making for Christmas gifts. I'm using Sulky 12 wt. thread (on a spool), a size #8 embroidery needle, and a small wood hoop; most of the stitching is just a simple outline stitch. I find this simple stitching very calming and relaxing - usually done in the evening watching TV or a movie.
Everyone here is sooo talented. My kids go to their grandmother if they need anything more than a button fixed. But having said that I was given a sewing machine by my MIL and it has all the fixings (some of them I dont even know what they would be used for
) so I'll be asking lots of question if ya'll dont mind. Consider me a big newbie!
