Just curious anyone do or thought about a Dear Jane quilt?

I have the book and the templates. I bought all the fabrics and started the blocks but went through a divorce and put it down. Still haven't picked it back up but it's an awesome quilt!

I have. I have the book and most rulers too but I think it is very hard to do. Some people have a special CD? I would like it if the blocks were paper piece. Are you thinking of starting a group?

I was intrigued by it. Not sure I am dedicated enough to do that, it would be a several year commitment and likely the only project I could do at the time.

My wife and I sew.  Nothing extravagant but quilting none the less.  One of the members of her bible study goes to Haiti on medical missions.  While there, she noticed a need for dresses, bags, women's monthly things and such.  LOML organized a sewing club with ladies from the church and they now meet once a week to sew, turn in their finished projects and just have fun.  They had a need for bags for the ladies to carry things in.  Much like a purse.  She couldn't wrap her head around how to make them so I made the first 10 or so just to show how easy it was.  If a man could do it she certainly could.  That was 2 weeks ago and she turned in over 100 last night.  I have no idea how many dresses they have made and sent but it's certainly been plenty.

It had gotten to the point of her not being able to sleep.  Waking up all hours of the night just to sew.  This morning was the first morning in 2 weeks she could sleep to 6:30.

I'm doing pillowcase dresses for them! (Haiti)

Just found this on BYC! I've been quilting for years. After I retired in 2009, my sweet husband bought me a shed for quilting. We had to finish it off and I did most of the painting inside. It is 14' X 24' and the inside is two tones of apricot with white trim. I just love being there and having everything I need right there. Here are some pictures:





Hope I didn't get too carried away! The chickens are new to me, but I'm having fun with them as well! Most of my quilting is for my 7 grandkids. I'm making one right now for MY bed!

There are plenty more, Kassaundra. My earlier ones are on a cassette...my old computer was very out of date. The top one was a graduation from college gift for my oldest granddaughter. The blue and white one was for a customer for her sister's wedding. The pink and white was for my youngest granddaughter who is turning 3 next month. It is a 3-D pinwheel quilt. The one I am quilting, yes, I'm the white-headed old woman, was a "John Deere" quilt for my hubby. The last one was a high school graduation quilt for my third granddaughter and fourth grandchild. The borders are applique, which I dearly love to do.

I wish I had more time for quilting. My husband not only farms (we have about 100 cattle), but he preaches for two churches in the area and does jail ministry twice a week. We have weddings, funerals, visitation, my ladies bible class, plus, I was just elected V.P. of Heritage Quilters in Durant, OK. And we're building a new coop and run for the chickens using an old shed we had....which takes a lot of time and effort.

Farmgirl7 - I so envy your sewing place. It's just wonderful. It's so neat and tidy and loads of space. You call it a shed? Its more like a large cottage. How big is it? You're lucky you don't have to heat it. It would cost a fortune here to heat it. Your quilts are lovely.

I can barely get my longarm in my spare bedroom. Not much room left over. My sewing room is in my bedroom along with my computer, tv and crochet stuff. Nothing like being all cooped up.

We have a detached garage but he has his stuff there.

My sewing room is on my dining room table and ironing board in the basement(unfinished). Every Thursday the shop in town has sewing night from 5-8 so in between talking I get sewing done. She also has knit night. She is very generous with her store. It is great.

Is anyone doing the row by row quilt? I'm not because I'm trying to finish several baby quilts before the kids apply to college. Some of the patterns I've seen are very cute. Ours is Sew What's New in NY on Long Island. Beach umbrellas. I've been enjoying everyone's quilt photos. One day I'll figure how to post from this iPad.
