BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

All the blocks I've been posting lately are part of a swap, called a boomerang swap. Each lady in the swap sends an f8 of her fabric w/ a note about colors they would like or not like, or theme ect.... then you decide on block design an add you fabrics to it an send it back. I love this swap format, it is a little more for postage, but it really builds your design eye "chops" b/c you are using fabrics / ideas / themes / colors you may never have ever chosen for yourself. (there is a swap organizer so all fabric and blocks are sent to one lady who sorts and resends as a group)

What is an f8?

Yes, a fat eight, ususally about 11 x 18 inches (but 10.5 x 18) is common b/c of selvedges

@cutechick53 you absolutely could sew that on it is all squares and rectangles

I finished 2 more for this swap, one was more imaginative / modern / out of the box. Everyone in the swap has been silent about it so not sure how it has been received. This ladies fabric reminded me of Greece, deep blue in color and the print looked like images you would find in Greek temple drawings or on pottery. So my block was my interpretation of a simplified Greek temple, all the ladies fabric was fussy cut the repeat. Anyway here are the finished blocks

And this last one is "Crown of Thorns" I thought it would compliment the earlier Santa Fe block (we are making 2 blocks for each lady in this swap)

So to see if I understand how the boomerang swap works, you send a piece of fabric that you want to use in your block or do you send the piece you like and it may go to some one esle? The other ladies send in a piece of fabric, some one on the other end divides the material based on your preferences and mails them back to you to make what ever you decide. Is this correct?
