I'm not seeing the option to insert a bookmark on the Android app. It used to be right next to the attach files and insert quotes thingies. How do I insert a bookmark in a post?
Android phone on chrome
It doesn't exist on desktops either.I'm not seeing the option to insert a bookmark on the Android app. It used to be right next to the attach files and insert quotes thingies.
I can't read ahead to save my life.It doesn't exist on desktops either.
There was also no choice and a much bigger job when they switched over from Huddler. It is very clear that the previous switch was much more difficult and that a concentrated effort was made to keep the site as close as possible to what it was previously. They really did a great job that time.I'm grateful for the hard work done on my behalf to update this platform. I realize a lot of folks aren't aware, but this update was not optional. The older version of the forum was on the chopping block. No more maintenance, no more security updates. There was no choice.
I was involved in both conversions, and we did do our best to keep the overall theme / "feel" of the site the same, both times. When we converted from Huddler to XF 1.5, we had the theme replicated on XF1, and we did the same when going from XF 1.5, to XF 2.1, but unfortunately it isn't possible, or even worth it to attempt to replicate every intricacy of an old software version when upgrading to a new one. It detracts from our ability to focus on what actually matters. It is really clear that there was very little effort made to keep the site the same this time. Simple things like maintaining the same color schemes would have been helpful. Not moving everything into sub menus with nonsensical titles could have also been helpful. Changing the order of numerous things so that clicking where you were used to ends up being in the wrong place.
By color schemes, I mean font colors too. I do not understand what the fascination is with using brown for the fonts. I don't remember any complaints about the font colors previously but there were complaints this time until we were told that the font colors weren't going to get changed back. I cannot see any good reason for those changes. The color schemes look pretty darn similar to me.
You provide a comparison of only a single page and use that as a phony claim that things are very similar. The member page is so different that it isn't funny. A good instance of a nonsensical title is "About" on the member page. As one member said ""about" is a preposition and it requires a word to refer to in order to make any sense and to be useful in communication. Sticking the word "about" somewhere all by itself means absolutely nothing.". About gives no sense of what one would expect that is hidden under that title especially when everything that has been hidden under that title are items that used to be plainly visible on the member page.I'm also not sure what you mean by "Not moving everything into sub menus with nonsensical titles could have also been helpful."
That's a very ambiguous comment, and you provide zero examples. I haven't noticed anything wrong with the navigation on the new version of the site, but I don't consider it a problem when something is slightly different on a new software version than it was on an older version.
