BYC's 16th Annual New Year's Day Hatch-Along—2025

There are 6 white eggs in the incubator. I'm hoping at least a couple hatched from my Sicilian Buttercup hens. Here's what they looked like as chicks.

Here is what the Spitzes look like as chicks. This will be my first time *hopefully* seeing a cross between the Spitz and Buttercup.

Wow such beautiful babies! I can’t wait to see!!! Do you have a spitz rooster that (hopefully) covered your buttercup hen? I see the two crested roos in that pic - forgive me, I am not familiar enough with the breed to know if those boys are spitz! I can’t wait to see what you hatch

The 2 roosters they spend the most time with in the pen are Spitz crosses with likely colored egg genes. I've been letting them all out of their runs to free range during the day, where they meet up with a 3rd Spitz cross and my original Spitz roo. So, if I set any buttercup eggs (which I think I did), they will definitely be a Spitz cross of some sort.

The chicks have been just jumping out of their eggs over here today!! I have never had such a good hatch with shipped eggs! Such a blessing! Here’s the updated list of all the eggs that were in lockdown:

Yay!!! So glad to have another in the hatch along!! Oh my goodness, what type are the two hens in the front left with the crests and the black speckled tummies???? They are soooooo cute!!
