Yes this seems to be an “off” year for the most part. I’m really surprised there’s not more peeps hatching.I feel like the numbers of people hatching for this are less and less every year lol
Yay!!! So glad to have another in the hatch along!! Oh my goodness, what type are the two hens in the front left with the crests and the black speckled tummies???? They are soooooo cute!!I’m testing out a couple new incubators with eggs from this flock. I have 27 brown, blue & white eggs due to hatch on Thu Jan 2

They are Spitzhauben crosses. I've been working to create Spitz-crosses that lay blue eggs (from Cream Legbar), with a little bigger comb so they handle heat better, keeping the beautiful Spitz crest & gold spangling. The girl just to the right in the front row is a new breed I introduced this year to increase comb size a bit and bring in some genetic diversity. She's a Sicilian Buttercup. I think the cross is going to have really pretty feathering! Hoping there might be at least one in this hatch. In the spring I'll hatch more intentional breeding groups...for now, I just grabbed some pretty eggs without knowing who they came from.Yay!!! So glad to have another in the hatch along!!
