BYC's 2021 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Along!

I hear such good things about silkies! Im trying to get my hands on some but cant find anywhere that people dont sell six or so at a time, which is a bit disappointing

Here they are. Quite a few years ago so they are no longer around.

I got my eggs from a friend that had been storing them in a cardboard box. Why the box I don’t know but there were about 40 eggs varying in age. I picked the best 6 I could find and got 5 chicks. They were naked necks which makes for quite the look on a small chicken.

Thats essentially what we did! We got 9 eggs from our friend (she is just extrodinary, about every animal, cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, geese, ducks, etc!) and she tought us the main stuff, she had a whole room dedicated to her eggs and gave us a breeding chart for colors and egg viaritys and everything! Shes amazing. And we gave our first 2 roosters we had to get rid of to her, so they have a nice home to live at with proper care! (+ they free range) so jealous!

1st of the October hatches is all but done.
Will set more tonight or tomorrow and the 10th. That will give me 6 different hatches in this month.
Also have two muscovies setting. IDK when those will hatch but it'll be sometime this month.

It's that time again! Every year, many members come together to set eggs to hatch on the exact same day - Halloween. If you are new to hatching, this is a great way to get a lot of help, tips, and advice. Join in the fun for the scariest BYC Hatch-Along of the year!
