BYC's 4th of July Star Spangled Hatch-Along

Pics
Oh dear, yes I would wait at least till my first candling, and also I'll have to pull four out when it's time to lock them down, and leave the remaining ten to do their thing.

I have three pips! How long until they are fully hatched? I'm thinking about 24 hours? without having really done a search yet, that is. These are officially the first chicks I've ever hatched! Or I mean they will be if they make it...

Yes, we're to give chicken eggs 24 hours to hatch after they pip.

That's hard to do sometimes, but we just gotta let them try to do their own thing.

I have a chick! It's loud and peeping and moving around!

How long can it stay in the incubator peeping without water? I know it won't get food until it is in the brooder.

If it is all dry and fluffy before anyone else has hatched, do I still move it into the brooder so it can get water?

Do I put water and marbles into the incubator for it now?

I typically move chicks once every 24 hours if they are dry and fluffy.
They will be fine in the incubator until then. You will want to put marbles in the water in the brooder though.

Thank you! DH was very adamant that they not stay in the incubator because 🤷 so the first two were nice and fluffy already when they got moved in, and the third is in there fluffing out now too! Yay!

Hopefully you’ll get some sleep 😂
