Yes. Machines and technology are all well and good, but not always reliable. It's good to be able to function without them.There is not a lot of math in Nursing but there is some.
Mostly mixing medications to the right strength (usually done by pharmacy) and setting administration rates (drip factors, now done by pumps). I hear nurses complain about having to be tested on this because it's all automatic now. I simply remind them "That is exactly what we all said right before Katrina hit."
