CA Anyone???

Hi Cali Friends

Does anyone know of a place in Northern Ca near San Fransisco or Sacremento that carries DE Food Grade?
I don't buy on line so I would like a store near by.

gpamela, possibly a bit too far for you, but in Jackson/Martel, just off hwy 88, there's a feed store called "The Feed Barn". A few months ago they indicated that they could get 50 lb bags of PermaGuard (the brand I personally wanted) for me.

I had just purchased a 50 lb bag from a nursery in Grass Valley so I haven't purchased DE from The Feed Barn yet, but I do shop there for horse/llama/chicken feed, etc.

Jackson/Martel is about 45 minutes from Sacto. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

Thanks so much. I actually called them before the post but they were closed. That's where I got the chicks in the first place. Here I was looking for health food stores.

Thanks Nifty-Chicken and all you Cali Friends.

By the By anyone know where I might get a Giant Chicken (no Roos)

Big chickens should be allowed as pets!!!!

HI Everyone! I am from Antelope, not far from Sac. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get some BC Marans pullets? I had mostly Roos out of my hatches. I love them but I need some hens:cd Please PM me if you can help me out.
I saw someone else on this topic from Antelope too! Hello out there!

Chico California Here, But my heart will always be in Santa Rosa Ca, where I was born and raised, and hope to be living again very soon.... Ugh, Chico, I can't stand the drunk college kids everywhere, with no respect drunk or sober!!!!! I'm done with The crazy homeless guy who has threatened to Kill my Husband and I because we evicted him. And I'm tired of the people that are all talk and no action, they flip you off, but run when you get out of the car to confront them, either put up or shut up, LOL. Anyway, I'm hatching Chickens because I have the newlywed Baby bug, but refuse to raise kids in Chico, so I'll hatch chickies until I can get back to Sonoma County, LOL.

Oh I should also add that I in no way want to offend Chico people, I've just been living here for a year, and the last couple of months have been intolerable. We manage a buisness and Live on site right in the middle of "The Zoo", you know, where Chico State and Butte College Dorms are.... and well, you can imagine the things that happen, LOL.

It's Tehachapi, off the 58 between Mojave and Bakersfield - love that clean mountain air !

[meant2bemommie]I am in Simi Valley, Ventura County.

Hi, Meanut2bemommie! I am in Ventura! We have one Millie Fleur roo Flicka, and three Old English-Sebright cross hens, Mama Horsey, Spirit, and Girlfriend. We got two babies out of Girlfriend in November '08, but we lost both of them (one at 2-3 weeks by our friends' puppy who grabbed him to play and was too rough and the other Tweety was not in the backyard when we woke up from a nap two weeks ago. We are so sad! We miss our baby! She was totally imprinted on us and did not identify as a chicken! She loved to hang out with us in the house, and, if I had been able to fashion diapers for her, she would have been in the house full-time!

I live in San Diego County, which is pretty close, I think. I don't know too many people that have pet chickens here, so I'm trying to convince people that their great pets to have in the city, especially during these hard economic times!
