A 1930's Brower solid wood incubator in condition so good that before I "fix" anything I'm going to have to make sure it DOESN'T work. As in "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

I found it, yay, I have one, it's on my porch! It's the six TRAY!!! I am in heaven. And I paid... seventy five dollars for it... oh chuckle, oh ha ha oh yippee oh silly chair dancing.

Okay I thought it was a Leahy - looks like the 624 model. Nope. Managed to contact the current "Brower" metal incubator company yesterday. They bought the BROWER name from a wooden incubator company that was leaving the business. Mine is a BROWER from the first company. He doesn't have any real records pertaining to them but he's going to poke around.

I'm jazzed that it isn't a Leahy really, since fewer people are going to have the Browers. I'm going to send the Brower guy picks of the refurbish, he's interested LOL. Of course that makes proper parts all but impossible.

I have been looking at antique incubators for TWO years, thinking I'd never find one and never afford it if I did bwahahahahaha I was wrong!

I love making incubators, I have wanted an old one to restore since I found out they still existed. This one is in such good shape restoration is going to be a snap. It needs cleaning and conditioning more than anything.

The old wet bulb hygrometer is still there and the old wafer, and the old thermometer. It is soooo cool.

I own it now and I'm still

and need to pinch myself...

I have been working on getting out all the egg shell and dust of over 70 years, getting the vents to work and cleaning the water pan (ewkky). I have a dremel so I'm getting the rust off the hinges with the metal brush and deciding what bits might need replacing. It's in amazing shape. I'm plugging it in later today...

hmmmm lets see, it holds 500+ eggs. So give you a couple days to get it cleaned up, couple to test run it. Stop turning your first batch of eggs on the 28th - I predict you will be knee deep in chicks by July 31st.

awesome, CONGRATS what a find!

Post a pic when you have time.

Do you know of any website for looking up old antique incubators?

I got a really nice big old incubator LOTS of egg trays, vents etc etc. gorgeous wood cabinet too! There is a metal plate on it and a spot where the brand name plate had been. It's front door has a glass window for viewing hatching process, and it has a top opening section too.

I need to do some re-wiring before I can "fire it up". Inside is quite clean. Just dust really.

My hubby plans to varethane the exterior to show off the cabinetry. I'll likely see how well I can get it to hatch and put it to use.

Be interesting to learn more about these vintage incubators....

When I can, I'll post pictures.

I've been trying to find stuff on the web on them and so far nothing. I do JUST LOVE this one, been outside cleaning it. If you find anything let me know.

Laura kidnapped the camera or I'd have pics by now. This one had some old mud wasp nets and old egg stuff - looks like it was worked pretty often.

The interior wiring looks good, I think I need to replace the external power cord. But I'll be plugging it in later today.
