Cackle Hatchery mystery box

That sounds pretty dangerous, sending people boxes of mixed fowl. What birds do you have already?
I have chickens now. I had ducks but not anymore. They are all one day old chicks when they send them and they do tell you that you could get ducks and turkeys to. If I get ducks I will keep them and for any turkeys my mama will take them.

We got a hatchery surprise box from Cackle yesterday. 44 fowl. 3 pekin ducklings, 2 bourbon red(?) Turkey poults. The rest a fabulous mix of chicks. Even a lavender ameracauna. Just set up several brooders, and have appropriate adult housing for them and it will be fine. We have or will have in a couple days a duck brooder(low protein feed and brewers yeast), a turkey and meat chicken brooder(high protein feed), an aggresive chicks brooder, a docile/small chicks brooder(sent a mix of size chickens), and we may end up needing to split up more chicks.

So far we absolutely would recommend the hatchery surprise box, so much fun and so many cute fuzzlings! This box was a christmas gift from my mom, but we have more coming from Cackle in june that we did order: another surprise box, 3 EE pullets, 6 guinea keets, 6 goslings of 2 breeds, a trio of sweedish ducks.. I think that's it? But to be honest I don't remember, we placed the order in December!

No losses so far, but one small chick is a bit off, we are rooting for him tho.

There is a thread here someplace about the surprise box.

When ordering they do tell people to be prepared for the possibility of needing more than one brooder.

They do send ducks, turkeys and geese but you can put in the comments that you want chickens only or no waterfowl please or love feather footed and they really do try to accommodate.
