Cackleberry Cottage~~comes to life!

Yes! She said they had a good day. A little confusing going to bed as some were trying to roost on top of the nest boxes instead of going inside, but she gently put them in one by one and everyone eventually made their way to the roosts.

I will try to post some pictures in a little bit.
You are very lucky to have waht sounds like an experienced chicken sitter,
especially having to be gone as they move into their new coop.
Hope your builders know how to work amongst chickens.
Enjoy your new grandbaby!

Yes, she is a great chicken sitter aart! Very gentle and patient. She loves the idea of farm life with animals such as chickens and goats and so forth, but isn't able to have any animals of her own due to a variety of reasons, so taking care of my animals gives her a farm fix so to speak, even though we do not have a farm per say. She took care of my goats as well before they all passed.

I am sure my carpenters do NOT know how to work around chickens, but they are going to learn real fast since they did not deem it necessary to actually finish by last Friday. So now they will have to go into the run to measure and will have to do all their cutting etc. outside in the yard and then go back into the run to install. Really, all they have to do is finish installing 2 windows, put in the two dividers in the nest boxes and install the trim. I will do all the painting and put up the trim inside the coop and install the HWC on the eaves. We are using 1 x 4 for the trim and I have a handy dandy jig saw, so off I will go first thing Tuesday morning. I have to take the perches out to paint them, so I will just put in the trim while the perches are out.

I expect it should only take another day's work if they would actually come and work all day.

NFC, I won't!

I am at my hotel trying to post pictures and my phone keeps telling me I cannot visit backyardchickens right now because of a possible attacker. Very odd. I will post the pics of their first day as soon as I can.

Well, I hope the birds don't get loose......or die of heart attacks from the stress of a move then hammering. I think I'd have waited to move them.

Aart. I had no choice. Chicken sitter would not watch them in their old coop and I had to leave town for a medical appt. They have been right beside the new coop build all this time so they have heard the power saws, the drills and nail guns for weeks. They usually sit around watching the guys working and don't seem bothered. I will be out there with them to make sure the run door stays shut and so forth. Just have to do the best we can.
