I am anxious to watch this one grow up and see the changes it goes through. Do sifferent lines seem to change differently or do most of them go through that much change ?I would expect in another 2 months I will see a mostly red chick with very little white except at the tips and hopefully some black chevrons. I will be watching this one as I like the type well enough but want to see better patterns this far into my breeding program.
Mine obviously have partridge in their line. I am wondering how much darker my little cockerel will get. I love the color he is now.My bloodlines lean more to the vermillion. I started mine from scratch years ago and have kept an almost completely closed flock. I brought in one other bloodline that gave me partridge genes and those are very obvious but they are always dark, as well. None of my birds have ever gotten lighter as they mature, only darker.
I can't speak for other bloodlines too well but Lynne in CA at Wingshadows Hacienda has had some to get lighter as they mature. I can't say if it was a particular bird that threw it or was just something in her bloodlines.
The chick pictured above has already changed some. Another 2 weeks will be amazing.
