Oh yes sorry Nando is the D-Brahma, totally awesome 7 mos roo. Big Mack Daddy protector. Seems to be tolerating Poppy who I'm guessing I should rename Peppy.

If the older is putting up with the younger... and the hens/(pullets?) don't seem stressed out... it may be possible that you could keep them both. How many hens do you have?

At 6 months, that's a girl based on comb, but the feathering looks a bit suspicious.

Nope. I'm, not talking about color, I just think that the saddle and hackle feathers are making me unsure.

Yes I know what you mean. This one is hard to figure. I've seen pics of other Cali-Orp roosters and this one isn't like them. But I'm seeing saddle feathers start and hackles are up sometimes....sooooo. Yes my dark Brahma is the king. Love him. But can't have two. Thus my dilemma.

I'm guessing it's because of that other roo (who is drop-dead gorgeous) that this one is lower on the pecking order and hasn't crowed yet.

Of course, that's an assumption. OP can confirm whether they've heard crowing or not.

Oh yes Nando crows, LOTS!! But he is a gentleman so has tolerated this one.
