I'm pretty good at it too but this one is perplexing. Cali-orp hens and cockerels are sometimes similar in early stages. I guess I'll have to wait another few weeks.

I'm guessing it's because of that other roo (who is drop-dead gorgeous) that this one is lower on the pecking order and hasn't crowed yet.

Of course, that's an assumption. OP can confirm whether they've heard crowing or not.

Yes I know what you mean. This one is hard to figure. I've seen pics of other Cali-Orp roosters and this one isn't like them. But I'm seeing saddle feathers start and hackles are up sometimes....sooooo. Yes my dark Brahma is the king. Love him. But can't have two. Thus my dilemma.
