California - Northern

Deb - who are you fooling. You love ALL chickens, not just blue ones.

Chooklet - soooooo tempting, but I must focus on my breeding!

Ron - I love it when they start back up from molt. It's nice knowing we are headed in the right direction getting eggs again.

More pictures - This is what I did this afternoon, with some help from my 12 and 9 year old. After some daytime predator losses, I ordered this netting. Took quite a while to get it installed, but I think it will work out well.

Kelly that looks Great !

These are chicks from the small pen that I am working on today. The Orange looking one on the left is an EO Basque. The ones in the middle are three of the Dorking Xs. Two look like RIR crosses and the gray one is crossed with Miranda. I also have a black rooster with cream colored hackle feathers from that cross.

This is a Dorking X, probably with a Barred Rock.

Miranda will be a year old on the 21st of this month! She is over her Molt and laid a very nice big egg today.

Ron nice chickens you got there. I meant to get pics today but was so busy

Click on your username at the top right(this will probably be easier on a "real" computer). The screen that opens up will show your information including your ovations.

To find the stats, click on the home button at the top of the page. On the right side there is a section that says top posts. Click on more and you will see the top 10s, including the ovations.

Good Job!

Hey Lucas, I think we met at Karen's "swimming with chickens" party this summer, didn't we?  You can see some of the Mottled Japanese pics in the album linked in my signature - I'll send you some more pictures tonight, when I get done with coop chores!

Yes, yes we did! I remember seeing your calicos. I'd love to see more photos at your convenience. They seem like lovely birds...

Is the male aggressive? My roo is mean and needs to go. I still have my scar on my finger from his tiny spurs.

So I ended up washing chickens and packing up, but got sick, so turned around and went back home....

I cannot believe that my OEGB cockerel (Caesar) came back with me today and still gets along with the older roo (after a day and a half). No battling at all.

Beautiful pics everyone. We were so busy today doing projects. DH is working on our poolside structure (not sure what to call it yet) but it's finally coming along. Got the 2 huge beams up on the upright posts. I'll take some pics tomorrow. I can't believe DH got them up over 9' high by himself using just ladders!!!!

I've been pruning roses and getting ready to plant more fruit trees. Hopefully we'll get about 8 more in the ground tomorrow. Gotta clean my coop out tomorrow too. All that rain we had soaked the bedding, so I'll put down a layer of sand and wood ash before adding dry sawdust.

Not getting many eggs, just a couple per day....what free loaders. I have about 4 hens that decided to do a late moult and are looking quite bare in this cold weather LOL.

I had to laugh at my big blue roo....he ate way too much goodies and looks like he's trying to get a breast augmentation...Don't worry his crop went down to normal size, but he just looked funny this day. His tail if finally growing back in...he did a complete moult and lost all his tail feathers. I'm using him again on his daughters because he's so beefy and want his size to pass on.

One of my very cold hens that decided to do a late moult...

Another free loader...late moulting hen..

At least they will start laying again soon and didn't quit laying during the summer or fall. They just are going to be a bit cold until the get their feathers back..
