A question for everyone.... I noticed on my 2+ year old delaware in my layer flock that she has one 1 inch spur - only one and I've never seen that on any of my hens. She's a pretty good layer.
Somehow in the years I've been with chickens I have not noticed that before. I think I'm going to take it off/trim it like you do with roosters...any thoughts?
I saw this on a guide to identifying Roosters. Some breeds have hens with spurs. I wonder if someone has been out crossing those Delawares?(Sorry).
My thought is to leave it alone unless she is hurting others with it.
Since she is in a layer flock, I doubt your are breeding her. I wouldn't.
