No we don't ... Just thought it would be fun to take them to parties and function we will be attending ...plus, I get to spend time with the kids when we make them.. Love spending time with my amazing kids.

I love cooking with my kids, too! My 2 adult daughters and I spent all weekend cooking multiple kinds of Christmas cookies. This is the first Christmas since 2004 that I haven't worked retail and I am loving actually having the time to do holiday activities! I was even able to have a cooking class with 3 of my adult kids and teach them how to make a traditional Dutch pastry called Dutch Letters. We used my grandfather's recipe for the puff pastry and almond filling. They are delicious and we ate them as soon as they cooled off! If you ever make it back to Iowa, be sure to visit the Dutch community of Pella and buy a Dutch letter at Jaarsma Bakery!

Thanks Ron!

I may have some eggs available for TEST hatches before that. The way it works for me and my friends, is they take the free eggs, hatch them and raise them to a certain age, then we agree what birds I need to get back for my breeding pens and the other ones remain with the hatcher...everyone wins!
That's a nice arrangement!

Christmas has me crazy busy over here. Missed keeping up with this thread!

I picked up 2 chicks from Jeff. A cute little BL Wyandotte and a sizzle (my husband named Grimm haha). So we have a cute little mini pet flock now. :D I have the 3 chicks from Ron and the 2 from Jeff all 'brooding' together on my back porch. LOL The Show Girl (from Ron via Chiquita right?) got very sassy with the Sizzle (from Jeff) and big time chicken bombings, chest buts and neck hugs (so funny looking). The Show Girl would get so worked up he started pecking ALL the chickens. Then it would get the other chickens worked up and even the laid back Silkie and Sizzle (from Ron) got worked up and started pulling feathers. lol At night I put him in a crate next to them in a time out. He seems to be behaving a little better now. ;) Always fascinated watching them. I'm a nerd!

I treated a pullet for cocci for over a week or so. She seems to be doing better. She got to rejoin the rest night before last. I did the nighttime drop off- as Ron suggests and everything seems to be ok reintegrating.

The little TJs leghorn pullets I have sort of keep to themselves but are a part of the flock...just hold themselves a part from them. Must be normal for their breed? They seem to be doing well and actually seem rather smart. They are bright white = hawk bait -> but they seem to prefer hanging out under trees, under bushes etc. Seems smart!

I am not ready for Christmas. I have so many gifts to wrap and some still to buy. We have to travel to Oroville for Xmas Eve and we have to leave behind ALL of these animals and even the puppy for about 10 hours. I am going to come back to poop city - and be up all night cleaning up after everyone ahhh...the holidays seem to only be stress free for the kids. LOL

Ron...any news on the 6 Marans eggs? Any tossed out yet?

Thank you for the news on the chicks!

All 6 are still incubation. I am a day behind, so this is day 5 for them. I will not know much until Wednesday. so far not smelly one and no seeping! A couple of them look a bit darker, so I hope something is going on in them.

And that Show Girl is one silly little rooster!

Would anybody like some trios of Light Brahma Bantams. Its $60 for a trio or $100 for two trios. I DO NOT WISH TO SELL ANY ALONE. PM me for more info on them. Pick up would be greatly appreciated. Im located outside of Turlock, Ca. We could set up a meeting place in my little home town.

I posted this on the Bay Area forum also ....

Azure Standard will be shipping Scratch and Peck Feed, layer version in 40 pound bags to start with, beginning in J/F .. this feed from WA state is organic, non corn/soy, and is in grain form, not in pellets nor crumble.

If you want to try some, Western Feed Supply in the Sacramento area (they have several stores) sells the 20 pound and 40 pound bags. Call them to make sure they have what you want - layer, grower, et al.

We are apart of Azure too! How much do they charge for the 40 pound bag?
