Rain rain GO AWAY! We have been digging drainage ditches all morning. The ground is already saturated and the seasonal creek is already full! I hope it doesn't come over :(

I love the Dog in the water! He must be a Duck retriever right?

I had to do a double take when I saw your photo. I think I have your dog's brother (and little napping friend)

Chickens are so funny!

The rain is coming down and the wind is howling and over it all, I just heard the second egg song in five minutes!

I am not rushing out there tough.. They sing way more songs than the number of eggs I get. I think they are trying to trick me into giving them more treats....

I am so sorry for your friends loss. I'm not sure where you live but, I would be willing to send them some eggs to hatch... Or even incubate some for them.
I don't ship chicks. They would have to pick them up. Just let me know if I can help ease the pain.
I had a bear devastate my flock a few years ago. It was a devastating.... I had dead chickens scattered all over my property .... It was awful ....

P.S. did I mention we made bear Salami....LOL
Does that mean that you were able to get the bear?

Thank you Miss Molly and Everyone else for your thoughts, prayers and kind words. I just talked with my friend (Karen) and she said she still has some chickens that weren't killed. They were able to capture one of the dogs (a husky) but are unable to locate the owner. The dogs had no collars and they even took it to Pet Smart to see if it was micro-chiped, but it wasn't.

Karen is most upset because of the turkeys and geese. They hand raised them so they could use them in petting zoos which they put on for kids. She knows a breeder for the turkeys and will probably get more in the spring. The geese were just under 3 years old (when they become fertile) so now she has to start over raising and gentling a new pair. Apparently geese can be pretty mean if not trained well from early on. I promised her I would start researching breeders...

Does anyone raise or know a breeder who has a heritage breed of geese? The other ones were an "asian" breed (not sure what type) but she is thinking of raising a heritage breed this time around. I think she would be willing to get an older pair, but they need to be really tame and friendly. Thank you again.

That was the first thing I thought! Wow Jules, you are heartless!

Come on girls, do you really think I'd put something up that would make ME cry as well as others?? I think you also missed the "little napping friend" comment at the top. Shame on you both

That kitten is now a very, very large ornery cat named Fred or Ferd as I call him. He still follows Adolph the dog everywhere and annoys him greatly. AND, he still sleeps like that flat out on the floor.

Quote: My ten year old border collie made my heart leap into my throat one night. She ALWAYS jumps up with me when I so much as roll over in bed (it's the breed). One night I got up and she was sleeping so flat out she didn't move and her eyes were slightly open. OMG!!!!!!! I thought for sure she had passed away in her sleep and there is nothing old acting about that dog.

On the other hand, DH snores so much, if he's quiet I always look to make sure he's breathing
