California - Northern

ah, but Deann hasn't given ALL of her roosters to the Rooster Guy -- because i'm going to pick up one of her swedish flower roos tomorrow afternoon. very excited! i don't have any SFH girls at the present, but he'll have plenty of other girls to make friends with, and perhaps i'll get him some swedish girlfriends eventually...

hoping my chicken-averse neighbor doesn't explode!

and will be very interested to know how the coq au vin goes, deann!
Yep, I am full up on roosters right now. Nathan is coming Monday to pick up 20+ eleven week old juvies, so if anyone wants a nice roo... speak up now. Here is my BYC ad: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/731146/several-quality-roosters-available-in-northern-california

Laura - sure, I will let you know how the Cog au Vin goes. I got the recipe from The Girl and the Fig cookbook so it should be yummy. I really want to get over my issue of eating my own chickens and this dish may just be just the trick....

The ISBN # is: 978-0-7432-5521-9.

I bought it yesterday, even though I promised myself.... NO MORE COOKBOOKS. However, I then realized I had a good excuse when I brainstormed cooking with my friends from the hood. A group of us from the hood get together every 1-2 months for dinner, so I thought it would be fun for us to try recipes from this book.

plus... I have soooo many figs in my freezer .... I need ispiration.

just a couple pic's. House is not much but it will be home. I really like the land though. Got a little more snow last night. Plenty of space for coops and A work shop.
I would love to have that kind of land! Congratulations! Hope the move goes smoothly!

Hi Ron,
If you look at a map and find where the Applegate River flows into the Rogue River, you have found where we live. Less than a mile to the rivers. Storms tend to get stuck in the canyons and dump on us Fog pretty much the entire month of Feb. Better than living in town anyday, they only allow 5 hens.

I will look your place up! I love that area too.

Thank you!

They are getting some extra meal worms for sure.
I'm so glad we haven't had rain the past few days. Dillon and I got all the coops cleaned out. Oh what a relief ... What a muddy mess.
