three here as well! waiting all afternoon for a delivered cord of firewood that still hasn't turned up yet -- but such a nice day to be home...

I like the floppy comb look.

Are you trying to get them into the APA?

I Really like the way they look
th
Thanks,

No, too soon to think about that APA, but I think it is good to breed a reasonable comb size. I worry about frost bite. This comb looks excessive. Did you keep any roos? It will be fun to see how they turn out.

Thanks for the reply man o man this whole thing is addictive from reading and planning the incubator to getting eggs to setting it up and now the waiting game haha how do some of you do it wait 21 days seems like a long time

Tomorrow is day seven for me. Since I'm hand turning it is getting easier to wait. I'm getting burns on my burns. Small price to pay for chickies.

ok my issue...
7 happy Healthy chicks in the bator. The other 2 cl xcp nothing yet. I thought 1 was pipping but no was the shadow or something..

1 white empordanesa is starting to pip.
They are cramped in the bator but there is NO WAY I am opening it now.
Sorry guys. That little white one has got to hatch.
Hoping more will to.
The others hatched this morning early so I know they are ok a few days in there but boy space is tight.

Hi Jason!

Chicks are amazing things. I have a little bag of it and I usually give it to them the first couple of days. Silkies up to Rhodebars eat it fine. It breaks apart easily and they have very strong beaks.

Right now the three week olds have been eating flock raiser with no problems. I will switch soon to the natural non-soy grower since I can get it In Davis now.

I am going to get a new incubator in February and I am trying to decide between the Dickey or the Brinsea Octagon 40 Advance. They will both cost about the same. The Dickey holds a lot of eggs, which could be a problem for someone that is limited to City Chicken rules. The Brinsea has a daily cooling cycle that may help with hatching the Penes and the Marans though.

Any thoughts? Anyone here?
Thanks everyone on the crumble info. Last few times they did not like it. I opened this bag and it seems smaller.
Ron I want a R-COM 20 or 50

Here are some pictures of my CL X CP 11 week old rooster. He looks more like a Crele Pene, but got the crest from his Cream Legbar dad. I am wondering if I should hold out and try to hatch a roo with a smaller comb, or atleast one that's not so floppy. Jason, I would love you thoughts. Note, there is a purebred Cream Legbar in a couple of the pictures. Note, the white legs on the cross.

Deann Thank you again for these eggs. 5 look to have a head dot. 2 more chipmunky. 1 looks like a female crele chick. Hard to tell in the bator though.

I like how he has white legs. This is good. I think white is dominant over yellow. I like that look better personally. that comes from the pene blood.
I say keep him. Put some cl xcp crosses cream legbar crosses and a few of the pure crele's you get from the eggs I give you.
That way you are working on a few projects in 1. see what the f2's give. I think olive to olive will be olive.
Olive to brown would be your best bet at Darker eggs.
Olive to Blue probably green.
If you do not want him I will take him. Not sure when I will be there again though.
