Tomorrow is day seven for me. Since I'm hand turning it is getting easier to wait. I'm getting burns on my burns. Small price to pay for chickies. Thanks for the reply man o man this whole thing is addictive from reading and planning the incubator to getting eggs to setting it up and now the waiting game haha how do some of you do it wait 21 days seems like a long time
Thanks everyone on the crumble info. Last few times they did not like it. I opened this bag and it seems smaller.Hi Jason!
Chicks are amazing things. I have a little bag of it and I usually give it to them the first couple of days. Silkies up to Rhodebars eat it fine. It breaks apart easily and they have very strong beaks.
Right now the three week olds have been eating flock raiser with no problems. I will switch soon to the natural non-soy grower since I can get it In Davis now.![]()
I am going to get a new incubator in February and I am trying to decide between the Dickey or the Brinsea Octagon 40 Advance. They will both cost about the same. The Dickey holds a lot of eggs, which could be a problem for someone that is limited to City Chicken rules. The Brinsea has a daily cooling cycle that may help with hatching the Penes and the Marans though.
Any thoughts? Anyone here?
Deann Thank you again for these eggs. 5 look to have a head dot. 2 more chipmunky. 1 looks like a female crele chick. Hard to tell in the bator though. Here are some pictures of my CL X CP 11 week old rooster. He looks more like a Crele Pene, but got the crest from his Cream Legbar dad. I am wondering if I should hold out and try to hatch a roo with a smaller comb, or atleast one that's not so floppy. Jason, I would love you thoughts. Note, there is a purebred Cream Legbar in a couple of the pictures. Note, the white legs on the cross.
