Love the green eggs!

Thank you, that's an old EE hen - her eggs are very green when first laid, they fade a bit after a week or so...

Just noticed the plural "eggs".. the other two are new EE pullets, much more on the blue/green side.

I do large eggs for Christmas also. Everything in the house is "sparkly" from the glitter for months. Came home one time to find 12 tubes had been chewed up and scattered all over the house.

You know, with all the pretty colored eggs I get from my birds, you would think I would have thought of blowing and decorating my large eggs.. right? Nope!

Thanks for that idea, maybe I will keep the olive, blue/green and light brown/pink ones to blow out too.. and glue sparklies on them!

Do those sparkly eggs come in a kit, or do you make them up? I think those are beautiful!

The others look like decals - are they?

I was thinking of using crayons to draw designs and then dye them - like we do with the hard boiled eggs - but those are so much prettier!

So instead of hunting down the Easter egg coloring kits and the crayons I made herbed muffins and lemon bars.. perfect day for baking!

It was a baking day for me too. Whenever it's cold and gray I want to bake. I planned to bake cookies and pulled out an old cookbook. I found a bar cookie recipe I had written into the cover 20+ years ago, probably hadn't made them since. Then we went very unhealthy for dinner, deep fried prawns and homemade onion rings. Yum!

She is beautiful. I need to find a way to collect the blue.................maybe someone coming to Stockton?

I use a Dremel to make the holes, a livestock syringe to empty the eggs, (large bore needle!), rinse them with hydrogen peroxide.

When completely dry I run a piece of wire through both holes, paint Eilene's glue on egg, cover egg with ultrafine glitter.

I place the wire through the egg on rods in a box to suspend them til dry. Glue in loop to hang them and bows. The pastel eggs don't have hangers.

I used decals on the white OEGB eggs - the decals need to be small - flat decals on oval egg equals wrinkles. Big decals leave bigger wrinkles.

I have used spray paint also. Run the wire through them, give them a spin and paint. Dry in box like the glittered ones.

The carrot tops are crepe paper that I cut a fringe on one side rolled as tight as I could and glued on the top of an egg painted orange.

Did you get to see him in person yet? What do you think of him? That little guy is still such a baby....he hasn't even tried to crow yet. I think his hatchmates miss him. I hope he gets along with your other silkies and becomes a great daddy.

Yes, I sat with him this afternoon. He is gorgeous and sweet. I am sooo excited. I put him in with my 11 week old juvies and he seems to be wondering where he landed, but he is getting along and nobody is picking on him which is a good thing. Thanks again!!!

BTW, My mom said you are a total sweetheart and it is apparent that you really love your birds

I figured that the Book was not widely available in stores. I ordered it and it should be here soon.

Yes, I am a crazy hatcher! I love a challenge like this, especially when the word out there is that shipped ones won't hatch. Since Jason had a Pip and was so close(infuriating!) to getting one hatched, I am very curious to see what the new incubator(whichever one I get) can do. Mycutecitties said she got tired of bad hatches on shipped eggs, so she bought a Sportsman incubator and has great hatches with shipped eggs.

We will see....

I would love to hear what you decide on. I am in need of a bigger bator. I have three Hova Bator Genesis. I incubate in two and hatch in one. Works out well, but I think I am ready for a bigger one. I always have to leave a few eggs out and that drives me nuts..... Any recommendations on a high capacity bator?
