California - Northern

By all means take your time! If needed, I can go up too on the number.

I have not heard from him yet but I think I will send a PM. Sometimes emails get lost or sent to spam. About the new incubator, The Brinsea 40 might be the best. It even says in the literature that it is the model to use with hard to hatch or expensive eggs. Between it and my two Genesis incubators I can still hatch hundreds of chicks for Kim this season....

Guess what? I was second place for best NYD Hatch-a-long participant! Deb won the pick the first three to hatch contest, so The Northern CA thread really represented--especially with Chiqita being a host. Gotta love it!
Good Job!! No. Cal. Way to represent us!! I was not able to participate in the hatch-a-thon, I was peddling X-mas trees and could not make it home at 12 pm to set my eggs. Urg. I did set eggs on the 17th thou and they are hatching as I type. 14 so far... Yippeee.

I use a Dremel to make the holes, a livestock syringe to empty the eggs, (large bore needle!), rinse them with hydrogen peroxide.

When completely dry I run a piece of wire through both holes, paint Eilene's glue on egg, cover egg with ultrafine glitter.

I place the wire through the egg on rods in a box to suspend them til dry. Glue in loop to hang them and bows. The pastel eggs don't have hangers.

I used decals on the white OEGB eggs - the decals need to be small - flat decals on oval egg equals wrinkles. Big decals leave bigger wrinkles.

I have used spray paint also. Run the wire through them, give them a spin and paint. Dry in box like the glittered ones.

The carrot tops are crepe paper that I cut a fringe on one side rolled as tight as I could and glued on the top of an egg painted orange.

Wow, much higher tech than I did it - I just took a knife and smacked holes in both ends.. and actually blew the insides out into a bowl for scrambled eggs. I did wash them out though - and the hydrogen peroxide sounds like a good idea.

On the glitter ones - the color comes completely from the glitter? You don't dye them and then put glitter on them? Those are really lovely - and if your dogs chewed them all over the house it must have looked like the fairies had been having a party!

Loved the carrot ones too.. will steal that idea - but might stuff the fringe slightly inside the egg so they can be hung with a wire out the top of the fringe - on the tree...

So many great ideas, thank you.
