California - Northern

We live in the east foothills by alum rock park. Technically we are about 3 blocks out of town. This area was built up in the late 60's so all the lots are big since the land was almost free then. We bought when everything was tanked from the original owners. It was our little miracle.
That's wonderful that you got a good deal on properties that were over-priced to begin with! I'm very happy for you. We lived off San Felipe Road. We moved 8 years ago before the housing market plummeted. Looking back (in hinds-sight) I wish we had sold down there and just rented up here until we could find our miracle house at a good price. Unfortunately we bought, bought, bought and therefore tanked too-LOL! Oh well, I LOVE it up here and I do at least have a few chickens (is 17 a few?)!

Can't be much more confusing than the Salem show. They have 2 poultry bldgs, and a maze of roads. Glad I had 3 years practice with DD dog days at the fairgrounds.

I get the feeling. Def. worked my brain when I went to a big show. Sometimes I'd panic because I'd think the show would forgot to save a coop for me!

Greetings to everyone from Novato. Been around chickens all my life and still so many breeds I never became familiar with. I favor the Cuckoo Marans, Barred Rocks, and Wyandottes. I'm hoping to find some California Greys soon.
Welcome to the thread!

When you account for inflation we got it for less then they spent on building it. That's what I was hoping for when we were living downtown in a 500 sq ft apartment with 3 cats for 9 years waiting for things to get sane again.

But it sounds like you got somewhere you love too. That's the important part. The rest bounces around.

Huzzah for happy houses!

How many chickens does it take for a dust bath? Apparently a lot.

And the rest of them were down below:

I got a nice picture of my new barnevelder cockerel today:

And my original barnevelder hen:

And a sweet blue barnevelder pullet:

Such gorgeous birds! ahh! Wish I could several of every kind of chicken sometimes. The dust bathing is funny. I will see golden butter colored lumps under the 'chicken tree' where they are all flapping about. So funny!

Wow, it is so dry where you are. More rain yesterday, guess it'll be awhile before my birds are able to dust bathe.
