Morning Deerling,
With a broody box 7 feet long I would block it off at about 4 feet at first. Once they figure out where the warm spot is you can increase the size available to them. he purpose for the second light is in case tone goes out, I can see where it could be helpfull if brooding a BIG batch of chicks to prevent crushing also. 25 chicks will be fine under one light, I've had 40 do fine under one. Have your cover ready, they learn how to jump guickly.

I was mostly worried about there being enough warm space for everyone with just one light. Thanks for the reassurance :) 4ft sounds good. It just looks so big right now for such little babies. By four weeks it will probably be impossibly cramped... And I thought my kids grew fast.

Well, after much contemplation, I have decided to send my favorite little roo to my home state (OK) to live on a farm with my Uncle Rob (he raises chickens too and just lost his guy to a coyote).

Question is: where can I get one of those boxes to send him other than ordering online? Do they sell them anywhere? Does anyone have one I can buy? He is two months old and is about the size of my full grown pullets.

Thanks,
~ Haileigh
