X2--Worms cause reproductive damage to the pullets especially. What you saw was most likely reproductive weirdness caused by worms. Quote from a poultry health section of a website speaking about pullets up to 6 months old:

I want to be sure they get a good dose since they are the most susceptible to parasites and internal parasite damage.

this one is a little different I think. Most accurate on I have. It is digital? I am not sure the difference but it started as one of three. I still use another with it but it is my go too one as it shows the range that incubator has. It has been working pretty good. No humidity though
yeah. let us know if you need anything Molly though.
OK, mine is older. It is digital with a probe, you stick it in dishes to see internal temps. I use it still because it has an alarm, so I will know if the eggs go over. I just was surprised, it works AWESOME for cooking but is a lot slower then the reptipro.
Does anyone know if the brinsea comes with a probe or is it an inside the machine thermometer?

Taking pictures of these crazy fast chicks is going to be a 2 person job. Thank GOODNESS they are all running around having fun this morning. I was worried id loose one from the stress of coming home. From now on, more space for chicks so they do not cook themselves. I'll give a full photo ( Mario bless his heart in an effort to have the tank ready for me asap put one of his old Hawaiian shirts down as liner, the chicks are going to be very visually acuite with all those patterns to look at.

here is a link to a Salon article in a chicken photographer. amybeth, I see a book in the making of your photos!

Someone PM me how I try and friend the facebook pages that were up last night, I cant find a button am I insane?

Quote: Brinsea has a probe--It goes into the water wiggle and then up through the plug notch in the hovabator.

The red is from food coloring--helps to see the water channels. The water wiggle has the spot check probe in it--the yellow thing on the back egg carton. I also have a probe for humidity between the egg cartons. I put that one up onto the egg carton after taking the picture.

I did put the probe into the air vent on the Brinsea Octagon 40, but that thing Is so crazy stable that I do not need to do that. The setting is for 99.6 and the spot check read 99.3 at the egg level. Crazy accurate.

We've been trying to get two or three more ducklings for our current two (in case something happened to one of them) and no one around seems to have ducklings! Argh! TSC keeps saying "maybe tomorrow" only now it's "maybe next week". And I know that everyone already knows this, but these ducklings are the messiest little goobers in the world. I changed their brooder to a plastic kiddie pool with wire around it and they're loving it, but they get it wet within minutes!

All the chickie babies are still alive and doing well. They are so sweet. Need to do a poopy buns check this morning. Going to finish my coffee first.

Deerling - adorable babies!

That is the same incubator I have. It works great. I 2nd the Brinsea Spot check - best thermometer.

Once you get it in range, it's pretty easy to keep at temp. You will need to have it in an area free of drafts (not near a window) and if there is a big change in temperature outside (like a storm moves in) you will need to adjust it some. The key is very small adjustments and wait several hours. If you make a big adjustment and don't watch it, you'll soon find it way above temperature.
Their loss.

I have a friend that won't take my eggs because they come from a chickens butt. I told her that the grocery store eggs come from a chickens butt too.

I never cease to be amazed by how horrified people are when they realize where their food comes from. Like the chicken breasts are fresh plucked off trees and eggs fall from the sky. LOL

I just ordered a bunch of Horizon shipping boxes (16 x 16 x 16) so if any of my No. Cal friends need a box in a pinch I have some

Good Morning Peeps!

This came in my email--a trick for peeling hard boiled eggs!

http://www.chickencoopguides.com/members/how-to-peel-hard-boiled-eggs-without-peeling/

X2 for Miss Molly

Thanks for this link, Ron. I sent it to my dad. He won't take any of my eggs

, not for all those crazy reasons, but because he can't peel them, and he uses hard boiled eggs a lot. We've tried every trick we could find, and he still ends up mutilating them when peeling. I think it must be his water. If this works for him I will be thrilled, because part of the reason I got chickens was to give good fresh eggs to my family!
