LOL! I didn't think I'd find any locals at BYC! Awesome! Yeah, Ridge Feed and the Farm Store down in P.V.
Any idea if those "Americanas" are Easter Egger posers?

Are you able to buy 3 & 4 month old birds? Up here the oldest our Grange has is maybe 2 weeks old, extras after a big advertised sale.

I have a question for you guys…

I've been doing a lot of research recently to try and figure out which type of chickens would be best to get for my situation. I've been getting a lot of conflicting information online.

I'm looking for a bird that is cold hearty, a decent egg layer, and friendly. I guess the importance would be in that order. I definitely want the birds for eggs, but they don't necessary need to be laying like crazy. It really is important that they are cold hardy since the city is so chilly at night. Ideally, they would be friendly as well since we'd like to bring them inside sometimes. :)

Do you guys have any suggestions? So far, it seems my best option would be Buckeyes but they seem to be hard to find.

I lucked out on these! I just got into this chicky thang, but there was only 1 other 1 around the same age. They seem pretty healthy. Skittish. Trying to get them used to me. They are too little to go in with the big girls. These ladies were $12/each

I wouldn't be expert on this, but living where it snows, my Ameraucana, Bovans Browns, Rhode Island Reds & Silkies have been pretty cold hardy. I think a Bovans Brown or a Silkie would be the best for docile/friendly. Need to do a bit more for the silkies, but so funny!! The lapdogs of chickens :)
