We're going to look and learn more than anything else. Mariah isn't hoping for great results so all should be good. Keeping my eye open for good quality birds. Hoping to see some doves/pigeons also so she can narrow down what she wants, who knows.
A super generous customer who came to buy eggs also brought me 11 of the most beautiful Marans eggs I have ever seen. The hens are 2nd gen bev line and the roo is peddler. I have the worst luck hatching Marans eggs and I really do not want to mess these ones up. Does anyone on here raise Marans? If so, what is the best humidity to run them at? Advise please
I hope everyone has a great time at the show.. one of these days I will make one.
Although I get in enough trouble buying birds without being tempted at a show.
Have fun! Is there a chicken bathing tutorial somewhere on BYC....I can't imagine there wouldn't be. My Delawares are filthy...so are the other girls but my white birds are beige right now.
I love all pics of our birds. I am a HUGE nerd so I hope I never make anyone feel bad. I am always playing with my lenses, lighting, settings and then editing. It all is a part of my business so everything I shoot with my big girl camera gets 'star' treatment because I share them on photography forums, my facebook pages and I since I have so many photog friends on my Facebook the pressure to do this is really high. I don't want people who buy what I sell to lose confidence in me or what I produce. Don't beat yourself up. I won't say how much money all my crap cost me but it's much more than the cost of a nice point and shoot camera. <3 I recently figured out some people want to buy some of my chicken/duck photos (blows my mind) and that is really awesome for me! More incentive to try hard haha!
I don't feel too bad, just couldn't figure out how everyone was getting such good pictures. (okay a felt a little lame) Plus I only have my camera phone and one of those little sport video cameras.
Yep! And I live by a nice spot on the river that has a lot of shade, so I can shoot any time of day!
I've been really getting into B/W photography lately, I can blame my best friend for this new addiction. Heh, can we post non-chicken pictures? I'll make the preview small. This is one of my favorite B/W's, from the shoot with 4 BCRNC dogs a couple days back. Something about this dog works really well in B/W.
I'm making plans for my chicken brooder/coop.
I can hardly contain my excitement. I'm trying to keep the coop cheap, so I've been thinking of simply using wood pallets as the walls with plywood over it. Anyone done this before?
I love black and white photos, but quality color photos can be amazing too. Like some of them on here the picture detail is so sharp and clean. I am looking into the pallet option too, just because someone has access to 9 pallets for free. Wood is pricey and the cheaper I can get it the better. I did see on here under the coops page somewhere that someone did just that. Used the pallets as the walls and put plywood over it, and then used the gap in the plywood for adding insulation and then plywood inside so they didn't peck at the insulation. I can't imagine how heavy that would be. But it looked good when they were done.
I did have to work up to doing it, but I heard my Dad from the great beyond telling me to man up and just do it. After that there was no hesitation. One always did what Dad said to do...
Ok! I am candling again on Sunday. That will be day 7 for the duck eggs. I will recheck the goose eggs then.
This is SO exciting!! I can see why you guys love it so much!
I'm running a dry hatch right now. I've read soooo much back and forth on this. I hope dry for this portion is ok. I can add water on Sunday if needed.
