I'm trying to get my next hatch together. I'm going to have jubilee orps, gold laced orps and some white leghorn. Can't wait!!! I'm expecting another baby soon and really want to get this last hatch done before the chaos begins lol

For incubation, treat them the same. The non shipped eggs will do fine either way.

The current research says to incubate all eggs with the big end up. For the last three days, they should be tilted to their sides.

Incubate like this:

Hatch like this:

Collecting your own eggs, you can go up to 15 days and they will hatch! The eggs closer to 15 days will have less fertility.

Shipping the eggs hurts them and they have to use energy to recover. They is less energy available to develop, hatch and recover after 5 days for them. Some will hatch but not as many.

Oh good. I've actually not handled them at all since putting them in. So for the goose eggs- I put them in last Thursday and today is the first day I have touched them. The duck eggs are on day 5 and I have only touched 1 egg. The rest I plan on waiting until Sunday when it's been a full week. So I'm good. Whew!

I've been reading some. So much conflicting info sometimes! Will candling frequently hurt them? Too much handling or temp changes?
Seriously! My goodness - half the time I just want to believe that if I let them do their thing they'll be fine (I mean eggs have been hatching for how many thousands/millions/trillions of years?) and the other half I'm hovering over the hygrometer dying inside because I don't know if the humidity is too high or too low or if I should keep the plug in or worry because them temp is 99.3. I can't imagine if these were expensive eggs!

I did candle three yesterday (I was worried about one of the store bought eggs, it had sappy areas coming out. Anyway, I scrapped that one (no veining, either) but the one next to it had a little tiny chickie fetus in it! It was kind of crazy how much I could see. It was one from Deann. So cool. I'm afraid once they get bigger they're going to give me (human)baby-fever. It reminds me of seeing the ultrasounds of my kids!

I have a pip!!!!!

And day 21 isn't until 10 PM tomorrow! My little icelandic surprise egg from chiqita is going to hatch early! The hole is big and I can see its little beak sticking out! Huzzah!!!!
