Question about the feathers on one of my chick's wings. The ~4 outer feathers stick out away from the body by ~1/2" on just one wing, the other is flush against the body. Is this something I should be concerned about? They don't seem to bother him, it seems cosmetic.

There are Frizzle versions of chickens...It is probably just the way it is feathering in. They go through a couple of molts before they get their Adult feathers.

Most breeds look terrible at about 7 weeks--the ugly juvenile look--

Happy Easter!

So my question yesterday got buried in another question

Is it OK to set an egg that got a little raw egg on it? I wiped it off with my finger.

Happy Easter everyone!

To wash the egg you are supposed to use warm water--85 degrees-warmer than the egg and rinse it to get it all off. The theory is that the warm water will not push bacteria into the egg.

I would try it and watch it closely to make sure it does not go rotten.

One also has the white pene leggs.

oh, i hadn't even noticed that yet! but you're right, one has white legs, one yellow. the white-legged one also has lighter ears.

so far, they are not enjoying being confined to a small pen (the "transit lounge") -- they've knocked over their water and food twice already, by bouncing around so much! i've put them in sturdier containers, but they seem very eager to run around more freely!
