California - Northern

Just got caught up on posts from last two days.

I did make it to the show, but put 240 miles between Oak Run and Red Bluff Saturday. DD wanted to go to show then back to Grandparents so I missed the lunch time meet up. I woke up with poison oak all down my arms Friday so I ditched the sweatshirt most of Saturday. If you saw a greyhound on Friday, that was me with him.

Deb's flock - my daughter was seriously impressed with the orps and your RIR.

I was talking to someone back by the sales area wearing a pink toned scrub top but not sure who it was.

Only got to see some skyflashes on my way home last night, some wind gusts between Weed and Yreka. Worst weather was the last 3 miles of the trip, looked like some large limbs came down on our road that ODOT had just cleaned up sometime before 10 pm when we finally got home.

18 of the 19 eggs in lockdown had movement this morning, woke up to a temp of 104°, I believe I caught it early, at least I hope I did!

Sorry to hear about the hen paling out, just having lost my little one, hoping your's will turn it around and recover.

Happy Easter everyone!

When I met Laura to get the Amelias to her, one of them tried to jump\fly out of the box. We both expected it and got her back down quickly. I said something about them being "spirited" and she said:" I know, that is why they are called Amelias!"

Some like chickens with a bit of spunk!

when the original Amelia was a tiny chick, she was WAY ahead of the others (which were much larger than her) at flying -- i'd pop in to check on them and she'd be calmly perched on the edge of the huge cardboard box (my kitchen sink came in it) that was their brooder, while all the others were scrabbling around inside. the name Amelia fit her quite naturally. (and funny, that was before we knew that she was a CL/pene cross! she was originally supposed to be just a CL...)

Ha Ha, no.. I cheated and got it off the internet.

Let's try this again.

Happy Easter Everybody!

My eggs this time, and my chickens and my mom's chicken wanting to take her eggs back. I collected that basket full over the last three days.. 3 dozen eggs.

ITS SPRING!
Awwww, the best kind! I see eagle is supervising the girls.

Okay, I got the Gladware things and put three in filled with bottled water. I'm nervous! What is my humidity aim with these? Will it harm the eggs to have gone from high humidity (around 56%) to a lower one? I have the red plug out for fresh air and the temperature is doing well.
Thanks

I don't know why BYC wants these to be upside-down. Sorry!

I kept my humidity between 20-40 the whole time until lockdown then bumped it to 65

Quote: Perfect! No, going down in humidity is ok at this time. It is a problem on days 18 to 20...The best thing to do is wait until the humidity drops below 20 and then refill the cups. Do you have the air cell chart and the days to check the development of the air cell?

Be careful, your don't want to get a mystery chicken..

Humidity in the incubator goes down with increasing temperature. 45% in my house becomes 15% in the incubator which is too low for hatching. It does not take too much to get to the 35% level.
