I've been practicing drawing chickens. I've never been good at drawing, but I am hoping to learn. I have a very hard time with perspective. If anyone has any chicken pictures they would like me to take a shot at, though, I would love some practice. It's not high art by any means - just fun.

Hot here today! I'm really appreciating the spot Mark chose to build our coop. It gets a lot of breeze and is in the shade most of the day. They should be pretty comfy in there. How is everyone else enjoying this warm day?

for the art work!

If I were to draw a chicken, it would look like your Toddler drew it!

How does BYC know that I am a Hatch a Holic? I got an email asking me to join that thread which is funny because that thread is a big enabler...

Did everyone get that email?

I got one... but I am already subscribed to that one, so it just made me laugh. As did some of the other suggestions for threads to read.. chicken nipples anyone?

I think if you are just beginning your perspective looks great. My art teacher in high school said the biggest mistake people make is looking down at the paper more than at what they are drawing.

Ditto!
Hey guys! Quick question.
I'm going to buy a heat lamp today for my chicks, who will be here around the 1st of May.
Do I need both the white & red bulbs? Or just red?
Red is fine. Where are you brooding them? You might not need the 250 watt one - pet stores sell lower wattage heat bulbs. I've used regular light bulbs in a pinch and have never had issues with picking.

So I go out today to check on my almost 2 week old babies that have the EcoGlow50 in their brooder. Poor things were panting like crazy. I had to open the pop door to the little run and wedge the tip roof to give them some air circulation. Everybody is okay, but the little coop I brood in holds heat well, which is nice when it's cold - but not so much on a warm day like today.
