California - Northern

and this is interesting -- i got my broody CL settled into her nest inside of a closed pen (since she'd been barging into other broodies' nests) yesterday, sitting on 10 of chiqita's lovely eggs: 2 marans, 4 icelandic, and 4 bresse -- and just now i let her out to dustbathe and etc., and mysteriously there are now only three bresse eggs to be found. can't find any sign of a broken shell or anything. very strange.

she is!!! and it was last scanned, or something, at 11:05 this morning -- had spent all of yesterday just sitting in a west sacramento facility, and this morning's scan has no location attached to it, just "mis-sent." my regular mail has already come today, but hoping they are somehow getting it here -- heck, if i'd known, i could have driven to west sacramento to pick it up!
I would call them and tell them to call you when they locate it so you can pick it up. That way they won't send some cranky carrier that though they were going home to deliver your box. It might be safer that way.

Does anyone have poofy bearded Silkies? (poofy is the technical term)
I have poofy bearded and non bearded but I don't separate them. ( frankly I cant always tell the difference what type of owner am i???) But I have a lot of silkies that can see nothing, if that's what you mean by poofy.
I think the technical term is large crests.

I do not go for HUGE beards because then they REALLY can not see, and trimming beards is a hassle. Having them try and make sweet sweet love to stumps and buckets is one thing. Having them not be able to find the feeder is another.

I trimmed the poof on one of mine, because she kept walking into stuff. I felt bad for her...

i can't even figure out who to call -- there's no indication of where it might be?

Today Day 13 after worming and Day 5 after putting out oyster shell, my girls went 6 for 6 with No Weird Eggs. I didn't tell you all but yesterday was weird egg Wednesday around here. They went 7 for 6. three shelless on the poop board and 4 normal

todays 6/6 was the first time in weeks to get 6 normals. Thanks for the great advice! I have a mystery though. I took a plastic egg filled it with gravel, taped it closed with packing tape and put it in the jail bird nest. When I collected the eggs from it this p.m. no plastic egg in the nest (a small dog crate) just a perfect Delaware and a perfect Australorp egg. Didn't see the plastic one anywhere either.

Call your post office. Hurry, before they close for the day!!

my local post office closes at 4:30, so too late for that.

edit: tried a petaluma branch that stays open til 6 -- and they were able to tell me that it was missent to somewhere up north on the coast -- is making its way back, but will come back to their local processing facility, and won't be delivered til tomorrow.

i'm hoping the poor eggs can hang in there for one more day!
