they look so snug -- and just have to add, i was enormously impressed with Stacey from Thistledown Farms' packaging of her marans and SFH eggs that i received this week -- apologies for not taking a photograph, but she wrapped each egg in a folded paper towel, snugged them into two half-cartons that were then tapped shut, put those inside a box with lots of bubble wrap bubbles, and then put that box inside ANOTHER, larger box, packed in with newspapers. not a single egg broke.
We got some dark brahma bantams 3 years ago and 1 had fused toes on both feet. Since they were boys they were re-homed so I don't know if it affected him later or not. Would be nice to know though.Maybe that's what it is. I'm not really worried about it - as long as it doesn't affect their quality of life (which I know a few bent feathers won't) then it doesn't matter to meI was just curious about it.![]()
EDIT:
I have noticed that my other Light Brahma has two toes that are fused together. Is this something that needs to be fixed? Or will she be just fine with her toes like this for the rest of her life?

It is so beautiful here in the bay area this week! Up to 80 degrees at my house today. I let my girls out and my sweet Silkie was just standing there in the sunlight. It was as if she had never seen the sun before! I had to share. Here's to a beautiful weekend!![]()
Wow!
Did you name her Phyllis Diller?
So very cute!
I have a 5 week old Marans chick who has two toes fused together. I thought about separating them and looked up several posts on how to do it. But he showed his sex early and since he is slated for the dinner table, I am just letting it be. It doesn't seem to be causing him any problems so far. Your chick's toes look like they would be easier to separate than my chicks if you decide to do it. Just do a search on BYC for fused toes.Maybe that's what it is.
