Are they up to figuring out %? If so try weighing the eggs, because lgs are a bit erratic, and figuring out what the humidity should be for the next 2 days ( maybe weigh m,w,f?) in groups? will get you a better hatch rate. Mario wanted you to figure out the outgasses mass vrs humidity vrs something else last night, and turn it into equations. I TOLD you he is a mean person!
A really mean person would say no more chickens. Does he enjoy blank expressions on young faces? Sounds just like something my DH would tell our daughter.

5 are out, 1 more is zipping. Once (she) finishes I'll check the other 4 that haven't pipped yet and probably poke air holes. Everybody looks fine so far.

Here is a picture of my new Crele Penedesenca rooster. I gave him away 2 years ago and when I found myself short a roo I called the woman I gave him to and was soooo happy she still had him. I asked her if I could buy him back and she said I could have him. Poor guy had to spend 2 months in quarantine in a 10 X 10 dog run, but now has a pasture to romp in . His new lady friends are quit enamored by him. Here is a picture of a Cream Legbar rooster and an Olive Egger (Cream Legbar X Crele Pene). As you can see Cream Legbars, Crele Penedesencas and OE (crele pen X Cream legbar) rooster look very similar except for the leg color.
Wow they're beautiful!

Woohoo! Congrats!!
Before I set the last eggs in the Genesis with the digital readout, I took the heating unit off to clean under it. I noticed that the heater wire was bent down at the end, just before it exits out to the top and least to the connector. The wires were touching, so I separated them. That incubator was never very close to the set temperature. It never has been, so I had been using it as for hatching. It was at 100.5 when I got home last night, so I spent the evening and this morning getting it back to the correct temperature. The incubator is now at 99.6 and the thermostat is set at 100.4. To get to 99.3 before I had to set the thermostat to 101.8 or so! Weird but I am very happy now. The temperature is very stable too.
Good job Ron!

Ok, My RP turkey hen, Stuffing, is being a poopy head. She has moved her nest, and I cant find it. (She also decide to sleep on the roof last night causeing us to get home from a late movie and spend 2 hrs in the brush looking for her and leif who jumped the fence again before I saw her hiding up there.. lovely)

So, Mario got a old camera unit we got when Vonnie our EE was doing this last year and put it on her so we can try and see where she goes.

She is NOT amused...

Rufas is wondering why she is wearing his walkies vest?

here are a few shots of my silkie chicks from this year, adding Sherrys hens has made a BIG differnce in the foot feathering.

Someone was asking about Frizzles around here.. I did not breed waits Zha Zha. But I do have a silkie showgirl sizzle roo I will be useing at some point this year. In fact he is in the Silkie surprise pen right now. This WAS going to be my partrige SG pen, but flame refuses to stay there, so we are having issues with the partrige idea.

I DO have another sizzle ( wont be quite as crazy as Zha, I think she was a double frizzle, they are rare, trouble breeding them) lack hat topped polish chick from daze 333's eggs, however, that is a cutie pattoti.

I should get a picture of her!

My Langshan eggs arrived today!!!!! They are huge and beautiful!!! Out of 35 shipped, only 5 arrived with cracks or crushed areas. They were shipped in the foam with egg holes. Only one of the broken ones leaked a slight amount. It was interesting because only 1 egg in the top layer had a hairline crack. The rest of the ones with dented in areas were in the bottom layer and were damaged by the eggs in the top layer. There was a foam layer in between the two layers. They are sitting at a slight angle, big side up in my turned off turner. 24 hours, right?

too bad any of them are broke. Bummer . 5 is alot

I wait 4 normally but you may want to go 6 to 12. A day should not hurt but how old are the oldest eggs?

Eek...I just need to know if they NEED to be separated. Because if they don't, then I'd prefer to just leave them how they are.

The chick will be fine with stuck toes. I find it much more common in feather legged breeds.

I'm not a big fan of the foam shippers. It is difficult to get the eggs out and I got a shipment once that the egg just fell out and broke when I tried to pick up the foam to remove the rest of the eggs.

As Jason was saying, if the eggs are more than a few days old, I'd go ahead and put them under heat and just not turn on the turner for a few days. It's probably more important to not let them age anymore. Assuming of course they are up to room temp. That's the main thing I look at with shipped eggs.

Good luck, it would be nice to see you expand your Langshans.

and unless you really know the shipper you never really know.
I leave my turner off 3 days but around 5 on the shipped ones for that reason

Pretty Langshan eggs! Good luck with your hatch.

I don't like the foam shippers either. I received some eggs pack in it from another breeder. 2 were broken and several had detached air sacs. Out of 14 eggs, I got 2 to hatch. It wasn't the bator either, I had some other eggs in there and every single one hatched.
