California - Northern

Yeah, I finally received my birds from Sand Hill Preservation. I placed my order December 2011 and got them today. 17 months later but who is counting? I ordered 25 birds, they shipped 29 and 27 survived. I really wanted the Brabaters and that is what they ended up being short on. Urg.. Fortunately, everyone looks healthy and are eating and drinking to the hearts content.

Here is the total count.
Mille Fleur Leghorn 11, Flame Jaerhon 8, Norwegian Jaerhon 5, Cream Brabanters 3

Funny thing. I ordered the MFL before I had my current flock which I got from Cheryl. Now, I am not sure what to do with these. I think I may toe punch them and grow them out so I can compare them to the birds I already have. This should be interesting.
ahhh photos of flame jaerhorn chicks please
Best place is Hunt and Behrens in Petaluma. They sell 250 for $36 If I did my math right, that is only 14 cents each. Cheapest place around!
do they ship ?
Ok chicken pros:
Can someone please explain the f1, f2 etc with olive eggers?

I'm hatching some shipped f2 olive eggers. They are from f1 olive egger hens and used a BCM roo to make the f2 eggs I got. So I'm just wondering how do I keep the olive color going? Do I just start over after these hens are done laying?
use the hens that lay the olive eggs ( usually pea combed) and breed to a bcm or one of the roosters you hatch. your hens that end up with brown eggs will still yield nice brown eggs.

Yes! We felt the earthquake here in Grass Valley! The windows all made this crackling noise and it sounded like branches falling on the roof . . weird!

i did too up here

Man I felt nothing here in Roseville but all y 'all in Placerville, Woodland and Graas Valley felt it? I am right in the middle of that and didn't feel a thing.

do they ship ?
We are in Santa Rosa, and go to Petaluma frequently. I could always pick some up and ship them to you, if they don't

I totally just sat down to pee and it shook the whole toilet! lmbo! Next time I'll just hold it and see to the animals first. I have never ever ever in my life been on a toilet that moved. Like ever. That was the weirdest thing ever.
