Anyone know of a place to find disposable booties? I'd like to have them on hand for people when they come over to look at my birds, pick up birds etc PLUS for me to wear when I go to other 'farms' so I don't bring something back.

When I lived in the Redding area (six years ago), there was a safety equipment place behind the Burrito Bandito on Airport Road. If they are still there, I bet they carry them. Unfortunately, I can't recall their name.

Ok chicken pros:
Can someone please explain the f1, f2 etc with olive eggers?

I'm hatching some shipped f2 olive eggers. They are from f1 olive egger hens and used a BCM roo to make the f2 eggs I got. So I'm just wondering how do I keep the olive color going? Do I just start over after these hens are done laying?

Only 25% of them will lay olive eggs. The rest will be 3/4 marans and lay a marans like egg.

I would breed them back to blue to get some double genes hens and experiment.

Okay so the Eggs that I am hatching are F2 so only 25% of them will lay an olive egg? Or f3 will only be 25% olive layers?

I think I did the math wrong, its 50% of the chicks? Let me check
The chicks can get
4 genes 2 per parent
1 is blue/white
1 is white/white
So 1/2 the chicks will have the blue gene and have the blue shell and olive eggs.

But I could be wrong, I've had quite the day.

My hood popped up and smashed my windshield in early rush hour traffic in the carpiol lane. I had to pull over blind and going 70.

But I thin the math is right...

What!!! Holy Cow!!! I'm glad you're ok! Wouldn't it be 25% ? With only 1 blue gene between both parents?
