I buy them from the egg cartons store. They're only .07 each if you buy 50. That's only $35 and they include shipping. Here's a link to the ones I buy http://www.eggcartonstore.com/Local-Hens-Grade-A-Extra-Large-Standard-Egg-Carton-p/lh-ec-3.htm

Thank you very much!

If you saw blood, the best thing is to leave it alone. I usually will wrap the egg loosely in a damp paper towel, just leave the open area on the egg peeking out. Keep it damp and keep the humidity up in the incubator. Blood means the duckling was not ready to hatch. The blood vessels will recede and the baby can continue with the hatch. If there was very much blood, it usually does not look good for the baby. If it was only a tiny bit, things should still be able to go fine. I'd say to not expect it for at least another day.
Poo! It pipped yesterday and had an entire hole by the evening. Still a hole this morning but slightly bigger. Betty left her nest last night (well late late afternoon for treats) and was off for a while. Then 2 or 3 times today as well. Eggs totally uncovered and the ducks eggs are supposed to have humidity. I should have left it alone and just brought in the house. *kicking self* I guess I let Betty brood chickens only. Meanwhile my Sizzle broody leaves her nest 1 time a day- she quickly fills up on water, food- skips a dirt bath and she is back on her nest. That girl don't mess around.

Thank you for your help!

Went to buy chick food yesterday and my 8 yr. old granddaughter begged for another chick. Of course I couldn't say no, so bought a red sex link. Had to explain the sex part, but got information on the web! Thank goodness for the web!

It usually take them days to hatch after the pip. There is an excellent chance the Duckling will hatch and be fine.

I love it! A little enabler...

What do you think is Curly a cockerel? This was taken today and Curly hatched on 4/28 so 3.5 weeks ago

here are two of Baby Ray or Baby Rae as the case may be

Little Rays legs aren't really this green they are more of a grey

and here is my only hatchling from a "Dorking" egg. You can see that it turned out to be a Polish egg. The very beginnings of a crest are showing up on this little one who has one black feather on her back

I need to buy egg cartons as I'm running out of bowls to store them in LOL where do you guys buy them from?
Best place is Hunt and Behrens in Petaluma. They sell 250 for $36 If I did my math right, that is only 14 cents each. Cheapest place around!

Thanks Ron! *fingers crossed* my interference ddidn't do her in!

I think I just become anxious because it was a duck egg, Betty has never hatched one and I was too fearful. I feel better after bringing them both in (placing them in bator) and giving her chicken eggs instead. She is hatching 4 Rhodebars now- she should manage that fine- they are almost to lock down anyway. I've got the duck egg wrapped in a damp cloth. I also removed the 3 hatchlings that hatched for some odd reason they are drawn to peeping so the 3 kept going over to that egg and walking all over it. I didn't want it to get more damaged. One day I will have a normal hatch.

Oh AND did I mention the duck eggs pipped on day 23? The chicken eggs pipped on day 20. So it's not like my temps are off. My ducks are just nuts!
