You did the right thing Jason. When they start with the clicking noise, it's time to put them down. Could have just been something as simple as failure to thrive.

Yes, I have one that is not thriving. I will have to take care of it this morning....

I know. always a bummer though

Holy things I can't say on byc.

The off switch on the incubator heater broke last night. It was up to 104 this morning.
I don't know how long it was but the eggs were very hot. Th older eggs are probably OK because one chick hatched in there from a 6 egg so it was not killing everything. But I bet the eggs I set for a customer and the eggs I got from juststruttin last week are toast.

Mario pulled the whole incubator apart and is fixing things. I have 2 incubators tetrised out the wazoo and all my carefully seperated eggs by breed and line for my new blood marans stock jammed into one hatcher.

New Blood Marans?

A week ago, I had a full incubator with 30 shipped Langshan eggs and 4 eggs from my birds at the farm.  None of the Langshan eggs developed and 3 out of my 4 eggs went into lockdown.  2 Bresse chicks hatched today but the Langshan egg pipped early this morning and has not done a thing since then.  It had some liquid come out of the pip site so it may have died before zipping.  I am giving it until tomorrow morning and then I'll break a little more of the shell.  Anyway, I only have 2 chicks and I am looking for a few more to keep them company.  I am doing a staggered hatch so there are more Bresse and Langshan eggs that will hopefully hatch in a couple more weeks.  Does anyone have any brand new chicks that they are selling or any due to hatch in the next 2 or 3 days?  I'm really not that picky about breed as long as they are large fowl.
Of my shipped langshans 4/14 hatched :/ I'm getting more haha

:fl I hope all goes well!

:pop New Blood Marans?

I got some from DM Ripley and crfarm. Both have beautiful body type and good tail set. My boys are still fighting tall tail. I was going to grow them out and try to get a second roo to be friends with Louie 2.
Ron since we are working on the incubator anyway could you post the humidity kit? I wonder if it will work for big cabinets.

I hope the new blood lines work out. I do have a slight interest in the Little Pedlers.

The humidity kit might just work!

That's better than 0 out of 30! I'm going to contact the breeder but hate to tell him. He's a very nice guy but we happened to ship the eggs during that heat wave so the poor things probably didn't have a chance.
